(From Jack's book "Now Is The Time" ....... indicates skipped paragraphs)
The author of this book you are about to read is a man who has said "YES" to God with a pure heart. More than that he's had the great grace to unite his "Yes" with the purest heart of Our Loving Mother. For as Jack has said many times, "I go to Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mother and thereby enter deeper into the Heart of Jesus than ever possible on my own."
The events in this book are nothing more nor are they meant to be anything less than a testimony to this truth. This is one man and his family's witness that is but one echo of the many personal witnesses that make up the Conyers story. It is a story of God's tremendous love for us and the role of His Mother in the economy of salvation. Our Loving Mother, whose Immaculate Heart beats as one with the Sacred Heart of her Son, invites us to unite our hearts with hers and to consecrate our hearts to her so that she may present us to her Son united with her own heart.

The rosary is Jack's constant companion even while he is sleeping and he is always exhorting us all to pray the fifteen decade Rosary daily. The rosary, the rosary, always the rosary - he is telling us, it's the short, sure way to Jesus. It enhances our souls to partake more fully in all of the sacraments. When you read of his heavenly trips and Mother's rosaries, you will appreciate more fully the message he brings.
.......
When he noted that I was anxious, he said, "Paul, I don't place any expectations on the day other than, getting to Mass and receiving Jesus in the Eucharist. I stay centered on Jesus and keep Him in my whole day, so no matter what happens, it's OK, because Jesus is with us." This I think, sums up his philosophy and the message he brings. The best way to cooperate with God is to come without expectations, and offer ourselves to Him through Mary, saying, "Whatever you want Jesus, so be it, no matter what our state of life is."
Jack's call is different than most. When he uttered his "Yes" that day in Conyers, he was on extended vacation, planning to take the year off to travel and do some personal things, so his state of life was in neutral. He had both the time and the money. That first year began in May of 1990. Soon it will be May of 1995 and he has never returned to work.
He lives by faith. His financial resources have been exhausted for some time. He does this to be available. On many occasions, he has spent time in prison defending the unborn and is always available for prayer in hospitals, jails, or wherever called upon. What is his - is yours.
From time to time he has come under criticism for not holding a regular job. This never bothers him. He says attacks are always a good test as to where you are with Jesus. Can you love the attacker? Can you forgive the attack? If the answers are yes - you're on the right track.
It must be noted that Jack's family never wants for anything although they are always stretched out financially to the point that if they were to miss a payment they would lose their home, their auto or whatever. Despite this there is peace and harmony in his home.
He tells me everything works right because first my wife loves Jesus then she loves me and the family. Everything else can wait! In this unity there is real strength and sense of direction. We cannot have this type of unity if we start to think we're doing anything. As soon as we begin to think like that we get in the way of God's plan. That is why Jack is always saying, "The important thing is to stay little. The moment I think I'm doing something myself I'm in trouble. Just as we have nothing to do with our existence, so we cannot give life to anything we do on this earth by ourselves. I did not set out to have a healing apostolate and write a book. In a thousand years this would never happen, no matter how hard I worked or prayed, I would never in my wildest imagination picture myself living like this, doing what I do day after day, if it were not for God's great mercy and the powerful intercession of Our Loving Mother."
How did all this come about? It started very simply! Jack's sister Karen told him about the apparitions in Conyers, Georgia. Inspired by his memory of Our Lady of Fatima, he was convinced that if the Blessed Mother was in Conyers then that's where he would be. Because of that pilgrimage, I too am here. My story is now one of those many stories of Conyers echoed through Jack's inspiration.
.......
Some months later I invited Jack to my home for dinner. Afterwards he shared his experiences at Conyers with us. I could see that he was a changed man. He was alive with the Holy Spirit and all he could talk about was how good God is and how much God loves us.
.......
It would be two more years before I would make my first pilgrimage to Conyers. When I finally arrived there I found out how little faith I really had and how much more there was to be had. Heaven seemed to become alive and real for me and I realized how I had been limiting God. It was in Conyers during my first pilgrimage that Our Loving Mother opened wide my heart to receive her Son Jesus. She fanned the little ember of faith that I previously was content with into a hungry fire of love for her Son.
I came, still skeptical about whether the Blessed Mother was appearing there. I went away believing, not only that she was coming there, but believing much more deeply the truths of our faith. The reality of heaven and hell loomed before me, and my identity as a child of God, as a brother of Jesus, and as a son of Mary, my true mother, became my every inspiration. No, I never saw Mary, but I knew she was there. I have come to understand Mother and Jesus are always with us.
I did feel the power of God upon us as we prayed the Rosary with thousands of other pilgrims and witnessed the miracle of the sun. And yes like many pilgrims, I smelled the roses. I went home from that first pilgrimage with a deeper faith and realization that I had only scratched the surface. I was not only excited but consoled by God's love and I was strengthened and renewed by His Spirit. The door of faith was opened a little wider that day. I received a glimpse of the boundless love of God that I had been limiting. It was both the end of a long search and the beginning of a new understanding.
I was reintroduced to my Catholic roots. Devotions that I had ignored as simple now became a lively part of my faith, especially devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I fell in love with so many little prayers. Many of them I discovered in the little blue Pieta prayer book. I renewed my devotion to my guardian angle and I began to wear the Brown Scapular, realizing its significance, and how it really keeps me close to Mary during the day and night.
I became more in touch with my real self and began to see how critical of others I had been and attitudes that I previously thought to be good I now saw as unhealthy. I realized how pessimistic I was, but I was lifted up by my new confidence in God's love and mercy.
.......
No one goes to Conyers without being affected. I did not know Jack before his first pilgrimage, but those that did know him cannot ignore the change. People that knew him are amazed. He was respected and liked by most, but he was not known for his gentleness or open-mindedness. He had a reputation that preceded him wherever he went. He is what some men would have called "a very tough guy." Everything had to be done now and done his way. The stories of his escapades are countless, from his days of owning night clubs and chasing. down bail jumpers to his conversion. None of it is an exaggeration. From my view, everything that he did seems to have been done to excess with no compromise.
So I ask you, what would make such a strong willed independent man do a 180 degree turn in his life? His life now is one of prayer and service with no regular pay day. What power is it that brought this man and his wife to this new life-style. As Jack tells me. it's simple. He could not resist the power of God's love that was revealed to him through the Immaculate Heart of Our Loving Mother. This is the love that awaits all that come to Conyers with an open heart.
Do you have to come to Conyers to encounter this love? Ask Jack, he searched all his life and in one moment in Conyers was dramatically transformed. So do you have to come? No! But it would be a good idea. Any day of the week is a special day and a holy day. Jesus has referred to the apparition room as His apparition room. Jesus tells us that any time we come to His apparition room He gives us a special blessing.
So do come, and bring your containers for holy water from the well on Holy Hill. Jesus himself declared "This water is holy because I, Jesus, say it is holy." Come and get closer to Our Loving Mother's Immaculate Heart and you will discover her Son Jesus waiting in her Immaculate Heart for you.
